Remodeling uses a tiller to break up and remove the old grass, adds a soil layer to give the new sod something to root into, then lays it clean.

Why It Matters
Sod installation is a process, not just delivery and unroll. The tiller work breaks up compaction so roots can penetrate. The soil layer gives them something to feed on. Skip either step and the sod sits on top of the ground and dies in the first Texas summer. We don't skip steps.
